Who We Are
Artkidz aims to unleash creativity and develop skills and techniques building confidence and providing enjoyment and delight in the creative process.
Artkidz was created by founder Jan Henly in 2002, the first classes being launched in Ilford, Essex.
Jan has a great passion for all things creative and decided to leave her role as a primary teacher to set up an after-school provision for primary-aged children.
Since then, thousands of children have passed through the doors and made amazing progress in creating their own awesome artwork.
Many have been inspired to pursue art at GCSE, A level and some at degree level and beyond. A wonderful outcome for Jan has been continued contact with former pupils and their parents.
Our Classes
The sessions include drawing, painting, printing and model making, each discipline providing the opportunity to explore a wide range of materials and broaden skills and experience.
In 2007 the addition of a kiln opened up the world of ceramics. Clay work has always been a great favourite with the children and they have successfully made and glazed a wide variety of pieces from cheeseburgers and cupcakes to beach huts and houses with gardens, not forgetting a whole array of animals.
